In the heart of England, a family of seven is making a name for themselves by transforming dilapidated RVs into stylish, functional mobile homes. Renee and Shaun Tilby, along with their five children, have been restoring and renovating RVs since 2014.

The Tilbys' personal and work lives are intertwined, as they balance homeschooling with renovation work. Shaun takes on a significant portion of the renovation tasks, while Renee focuses on the design and interior aspects, creating a minimalist, boho, and versatile aesthetic that sets their campers apart.

The couple started buying and repairing RVs to sell later on due to financial struggles. However, they soon expanded their business to offer both complete and partial renovation services. The renovated RVs have a higher profit margin, but this means a longer expansion period for the business.

The Tilbys' camper, their home year-round, boasts a master bedroom with a double bed, three single bunks for their children, a kitchen with a large kitchen island, a living room with a couch that doubles as a bed for guests, a bathroom with a shower, and a spacious pantry. Outside, they make use of a second outdoor kitchen and a picnic table, emphasising that a lot of life happens outside the camper.

Renee admits that having only one bathroom can be challenging, but living in close quarters has taught the family to work together and address problems directly. Selling their renovated campers is not a problem, as they find buyers through Instagram and Facebook.

Since starting their business in 2014, the Tilbys have converted 18 RVs. In late 2019, they found a dilapidated RV with a layout they loved, marking the beginning of a career based on renovating RVs. In 2018, the Tilby family moved into a 28-square-meter RV they couldn't sell, after deciding to sell their 300-square-meter house. They sell the finished camper for about €25,000 to €42,000.

Shaun's increased focus on the education of the children is considered the best part of their business expansion by Renee. On average, they spend between €7,000 and €12,500 on a used camper and about €2,500 to €5,000 on renovations.

The Tilbys document their adventures and renovations on their Instagram account "The Flippin 'Tilbys", providing a glimpse into their unique lifestyle.
