AAPI Clergy and Lay Leadership Retreat 2025 Kicks Off in Kansas City

The 2025 AAPI Clergy and Lay Leadership Retreat is underway in Kansas City, Missouri, from April 2 to 4. The event, organized by the Episcopal Church's Asiamerica Ministries, brings together 57 AAPI Episcopalians from across the U.S., Hawai'i, and Guam. Despite the search results, the organizer of this year's retreat remains unidentified.

Held at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, the retreat aims to nurture and develop new leaders by acknowledging and supporting the stories and gifts of AAPI Episcopalians. The theme, 'Sharing Our Stories, Revealing Dreams, Living in Hope', encourages participants to express themselves through speaking, music, or any preferred method.

The retreat features 'AAPI Episcopal Bingo', an icebreaker activity that highlights shared AAPI Episcopal experiences. This year's event is the latest iteration of a retreat first formed in 2017 by New York Bishop Suffragan Allen K. Shin and West Missouri Bishop Provisional Diane Jardine Bruce in Los Angeles. The retreat is designed to foster fellowship and professional networking through discussion and storytelling-based programming. Notably, the Rev. KyungJa 'KJ' Oh, the first Korean American woman ordained in The Episcopal Church, is speaking at the retreat.

The 2025 AAPI Clergy and Lay Leadership Retreat in Kansas City, Missouri, is a significant gathering for AAPI Episcopalians. By providing a platform for storytelling and self-expression, the retreat fosters leadership qualities and community building among its participants.
