Alliance Global Inc's Travellers International Hotel Group Inc (TIHGI) has announced that the construction of their latest project, Mactan World Resorts, is set to begin by the end of 2025, with an expected completion date in 2027. The new integrated resort will be located on Mactan Island, near the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, in Lapu-Lapu City.
TIHGI, the developer behind the project, has applied for a license to develop and operate an integrated resort casino inside Mactan Newtown in 2023. The company aims to replicate the success of their existing resort, Newport World Resorts in Metro Manila's Entertainment City, with Mactan World Resorts.
The Mactan World Resort is part of a broader expansion plan by Alliance Global Group, which includes luxury hotels and integrated resorts in Cebu. The group is investing around $300 million for the project.
Experts believe that upon its opening, Mactan World Resorts would be able to generate approximately $4.3 million in property and business taxes within five years. The resort is expected to create around 5,000 new jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy.
