Details given for the scope of this segment:

In September 2025, the Kulturweit Volunteer Service will embark on its 15th year, offering young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 a unique opportunity to gain international experiences for 6 or 12 months. This volunteer service, organized by the German UNESCO Commission in collaboration with the Federal Foreign Office, has already seen more than 6,000 individuals complete the program since its inception in 2009.

The Kulturweit Volunteer Service collaborates with organizations involved in German foreign cultural and educational policy and international development projects. Partner organizations include the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Goethe-Institut, and numerous UNESCO national commissions worldwide. Deployment sites, located in over 93 countries, range from UNESCO national commissions and biosphere reserves to World Heritage sites.

Volunteers work on a variety of tasks such as education, culture, sports, and nature conservation. The focus of activities is supporting German and sports education, organizing cultural projects, and strengthening international networks. The program offers comprehensive support to its volunteers, including seminars, language courses, travel costs coverage, insurance, rent subsidies, and personal accompaniment throughout the service.

Around two-thirds of alumni report a strengthened understanding of democratic values after the Kulturweit volunteer service. Moreover, 90% of alumni report having become more open-minded after participating in the program. The Kulturweit Volunteer Service has been awarded the QIFD seal of quality, a testament to its quality and impact.

Monthly online sessions provide comprehensive insights into the program, and a team of experts and former volunteers is available to answer questions during these sessions. The application deadline for the next round is January 10, 2025. Interested individuals can submit their applications online at our website.

It is important to note that the Kulturweit Volunteer Service is not directly related to the Erasmus program, which celebrates its 30th anniversary. This clarification is made to avoid any confusion between the two programs. Since 2015, kulturweit-Incoming has provided the opportunity for international volunteers to be active in Germany.

As a German-language service and news portal that informs readers about life and work abroad, we are excited to share this opportunity with our readers. The Kulturweit Volunteer Service offers a life-changing experience for young adults, fostering a deeper understanding of democratic values, promoting open-mindedness, and providing an unforgettable international adventure.
