It's a messy situation up in the skies of Moscow, folks! From May 6, 16:00 to May 7, 08:00, numerous flights faced cancellations and delays at Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Domodedovo airports. Vnukovo was hit particularly hard, with around 50 flights scrapped and another 45 delayed by over an hour. Additionally, 43 planes were redirected to other airports. Unfortunately, the knock-on effect of delays means that airlines might continue experiencing cancellations.
Sheremetyevo wasn't far behind, with approximately 40 flights canceled and at least 50 more delayed. Upon arrival, at least 60 flights encountered issues. The imposed restrictions at Domodedovo resulted in the cancellation of around 20 flights and another 70 delays upon arrival.
ATOUR shared that the peculiarities of flight scheduling by airlines might prolong the challenges. "This delay will cause further domino effects," they warned, urging tourists to stay vigilant and check their flight status.
Despite the chaos, all Moscow air hub airports (including Zhukovsky) are running smoothly as of now, according to Rosaviatsiya press secretary Artem Korenevko. However, restrictions were in place at Vnukovo from 18:20 on May 6 to 04:08 on May 7, at Sheremetyevo from 01:00 to 05:30 on May 7, and at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky from the evening of May 6 to 11:44 on May 7. As of now, only Yaroslavl and Kaluga airports face restrictions, according to Rosaviatsiya's representative's statements.
