Durham University Finalist in Two Categories at UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards 2024

Durham University has made significant strides in sustainability, earning finalist spots in two categories at the UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards 2024. Despite no specific university being identified as a nominee for 'Event of the Year for Sustainability', Durham's innovative projects have been recognised.

Durham's Biodiversity Strategy has been praised for its ambitious target to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain by 2032. Meanwhile, the university's cleaning product range saw a remarkable reduction, from 93 to 19 items, using Odorbac. This change enhanced safety, cut waste, and lowered carbon footprint, securing a 'Creating Impact' finalist position.

The Renewable Energy Northeast Universities (ReNU) doctoral training programme was also Highly Commended. It aims to cultivate future leaders in renewable and sustainable energy sectors.

Durham University's commitment to sustainability has been lauded at the UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards. Its finalist spots in 'Creating Impact' and 'Sustainability Institution of the Year' categories highlight the university's dedication to minimising environmental impact across all activities.
