In a move that could benefit frequent travellers, United MileagePlus members can now earn miles on Turo car rentals through a direct partnership. This partnership sets United MileagePlus apart from Delta SkyMiles, as the latter does not currently have a specific partnership with Turo for earning miles on rentals.

For United MileagePlus members, the earning potential is significant. On their first Turo trip, they can earn 5 miles per dollar spent. For subsequent rentals, members earn 1 mile per dollar spent. To reap these benefits, members need to link their United MileagePlus account to their Turo account.

In contrast, Delta SkyMiles members currently do not have a specific partnership with Turo mentioned among their travel partners. Delta does offer miles on rental cars, rideshares, vacations, and cruises, but no direct mention of earning SkyMiles on Turo rentals was found in the available information.

Here's a comparison of the two:

| Feature | United MileagePlus | Delta SkyMiles | |------------------------------|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| | Turo rentals miles earned | 5 miles per $1 (first rental), then 1 mile per $1 | No specific Turo partnership or miles offer found | | Account linking required | Yes, link MileagePlus to Turo | Not applicable |

The partnership between Turo and United MileagePlus began on Dec. 4, offering an advantage to United MileagePlus members when it comes to earning miles for renting cars through Turo compared to Delta SkyMiles members.

For those looking to maximise their rewards, the American Express® Gold Card offers 4X Membership Rewards® points per dollar spent on purchases at restaurants worldwide, 4X points per dollar spent at US supermarkets, 3X points per dollar spent on flights booked directly with airlines or on AmexTravel.com, and more. Turo rentals code as travel, so users can earn points and miles on rentals if they pay with a card that earns bonus points for travel purchases.

Turo is a peer-to-peer car-sharing service where hosts loan their cars to guests. Rentals are currently available in over 16,000 cities in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, and France. Turo cars are not typically covered by most credit cards' rental car insurance policies, so it's recommended that users elect a minimum coverage plan via their rental agreement.
