Enchanting Hebrides Beach in Scotland, a Hidden Gem Offering Breathtaking Sea Views

Traigh Mheilein beach, nestled in the northwestern corner of the Isle of Harris, is a hidden gem that offers a tropical paradise experience amidst the rugged Scottish landscape. Known for its striking turquoise waters, this beach provides a scenic backdrop against the uninhabited island of Scarp and is ideal for various water activities.

The Isle of Harris, a part of the main Hebridean island of Lewis and Harris, is renowned for its signature Harris tweed, strong seafaring culture, excellent gin, and amazing beaches. One such beach is Traigh Mheilein, which is less crowded compared to the nearby beach of Crabhadail.

To reach Traigh Mheilein beach, you have two main options: ferries or flights.

## By Ferry

Your journey begins by travelling to Skye or Ullapool from Glasgow. From Mallaig, catch a ferry to Armadale on the Isle of Skye, then drive across Skye to Uig, where you can take another ferry to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. Alternatively, take a ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, and from there, drive to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. Once in Tarbert, you can use the local bus service or drive to Hushinish, which is the starting point for the walk to Traigh Mheilein beach.

## By Flight

Another option is to fly to Stornoway Airport on the Isle of Lewis from Glasgow. From there, rent a car and drive south to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. Continue driving to Hushinish, where you'll start your hike to Traigh Mheilein beach.

Once at Hushinish, start your approximately 2 km hike to Traigh Mheilein beach. The walk is about 40 minutes one way and offers beautiful views of the coastline.

## Tips for Your Visit

- It's advisable to book ferry tickets and flights in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. - Check the schedules for buses and ferries, as they may vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions. - Consider staying in Tarbert or nearby areas for easier access to Hushinish and Traigh Mheilein beach. - The soft sand of Traigh Mheilein makes it an excellent place to relax.
