Europe dispatches 36,000 young individuals on subsidized European travel adventures - European Union offers complimentary travel to 36,000 youth throughout Europe

The European Union Commission announced it will provide 36,000 free travel passes for young people to explore Europe via train commencing this July and continuing through September 2022. Applications were accepted in April, requiring applicants to be at least 18 years old at the start of their journey. Eligible participants hail from EU countries, alongside Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey.

Germany led the applications, followed by Spain and Poland, with over 6,100 German youth receiving EU funding for their trips. The "DiscoverEU" program, started in 2018, has provided a total of 391,000 travel passes as of recent updates. Besides train tickets, beneficiaries receive discounts on lodging and cultural attractions.

Since its inception, the program has gained popularity, with over 390,000 travel passes issued to young Europeans [1]. Although the number of travel passes distributed in 2021 remains undisclosed, the program continues to offer opportunities for young travelers across the continent. For specific figures on the 2021 allocations, interested parties may refer to EU Commission reports or announcements from that period.
