Get ready for a unique and accessible stargazing experience in Ostheim vor der Rhön, Germany! The Vogelsberg Observatory will host a barrier-free stargazing tour specifically designed for people with mobility impairments on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

The event will kick off at 8:00 PM at the Vogelsberg Observatory. With accessible paths and equipment, everyone can comfortably enjoy the night sky. Registration is required due to limited capacity, and interested participants can register by phone at 09777-91 70 50 or by email: [email protected].
Certified Sternenpark guide Anja Johannes will lead the tour, offering a stargazing experience with a regional picnic. Early registration and vegetarian meal information are required for the picnic.
What to Expect
Participants will start their journey at the Segelflugplatz on the Büchig. From there, they will embark on a nighttime stroll to the small Lindenberg, where they can settle down on their brought-along seating. Anja will share fascinating stories and legends about the stars while participants admire the clear night sky, which is even more breathtaking due to measures taken against light pollution in Ostheim.
Additional Events
For those who can't make it to the barrier-free tour, there are other Sternenpark tours taking place during the summer holidays. The small Lindenberg event will take place on July 26th and August 2nd, from 9 pm to 12 am. The number of participants is limited to 30, and early registration is recommended.
A new event, "Stargazing for people with mobility impairments", will take place on July 27th, from 9:30 pm to 11 pm.
