Expanding Resort Ventures in Himachal Pradesh: Introducing Taj Theog Resort & Spa, Shimla

The Taj Theog Resort & Spa, a new addition to the Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) portfolio, has recently opened its doors in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. This marks IHCL's first foray into mountain resorts, expanding their already extensive resort portfolio, which is the largest in India.

Nestled amidst thick Cedar forests and spread over five acres, the resort offers a serene and picturesque setting. It is conveniently located for a comfortable drive from both Shimla and Chandigarh, making it an ideal destination for travellers seeking a tranquil escape.

The Taj Theog Resort & Spa boasts 99 luxuriously appointed rooms, each featuring warm wooden furniture, traditional rugs, tall French windows, and spacious balconies overlooking snow peaks and quaint villages. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout the property, and each room includes a private balcony or patio, providing scenic views and fresh air. The bathrooms feature rainfall showerheads and designer toiletries for a luxurious experience.

Dining options at the resort are diverse and cater to a variety of tastes. The all-day diner, Tragopan, specialises in Indian cuisine, while Peony offers Sichuan and Cantonese cuisines, providing an oriental dining experience. Theog Junction, inspired by the classic narrow-gauge toy train from Kalka to Shimla, offers a unique pub experience. Guests can also enjoy 24-hour room service and a bar/lounge for drinks and relaxation. A buffet breakfast is served daily from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM for an additional fee.

The resort houses an expansive Jiva Spa, Taj's award-winning spa brand deeply rooted in India's rich heritage of wellness. The spa offers a variety of treatments including massages, body treatments, and facials, designed to pamper guests. There is also a 24-hour health club and an indoor heated pool, catering to fitness and wellness needs.

Outdoor activities such as guided treks with an in-house naturalist, offering unique experiential opportunities like tea and pakoda sessions at hilltops nearby, are also available. The resort provides additional amenities such as concierge services, babysitting (at a surcharge), free private parking, and pet-friendly facilities.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, expressed delight at opening their first hotel in Himachal Pradesh, a region often referred to as the Land of Gods. With the Taj Theog Resort & Spa, IHCL aims to offer guests a distinctive retreat that combines luxury accommodations with immersive nature experiences, excellent service, and wellness facilities.

The Taj Theog Resort & Spa promises to be a memorable destination for travellers seeking a unique blend of luxury, culture, and nature in the heart of the Himalayas.

The Taj Theog Resort & Spa, with its luxurious rooms and diverse dining options, offers a sophisticated home-and-garden lifestyle experience amidst the picturesque Cedar forests of Shimla.
