Gathering Invitation in Dusseldorf, Scheduled for October
Commencing its 20th edition, the "Begegnen" association, Forum Democracy Düsseldorf, and the Düsseldorf Police Presidency invite residents and workers of Düsseldorf to participate in the Encounter Week. This intercultural journey through the state capital will take place from October 16 to 20, aiming to facilitate dialogue and replace prejudices with personal experiences. The event program offers a diverse range of activities, including visits to religious sites, lectures, and workshops.
The week commences with a welcome at the Düsseldorf Police Presidency, followed by a lecture on "Antisemitism and Anti-Muslim Racism in Society and School" by Prof. Dr. Karim Fereidooni and a theater performance. On the second day, the focus is on "Religions," with planned visits to a synagogue, a church, and a mosque.
In addition, participants will visit the Memorial and Remembrance Site in Düsseldorf. On Thursday, scheduled activities include a guided tour of the Düsseldorf-Oberbilk Stolpersteine and a lecture on "Srebrenica and the New Right" held in a mosque. The final day concludes with an anti-racism training and a reflection on the week's events.
Free participation is offered to Düsseldorf residents and employees of its authorities, institutions, or associations. A limited number of spots are still available. The Encounter Week takes place during the day, starting at 9 or 10 am each day.
