Hallertau unveils its new audio tour initiative: The Leader Project begins operations
The Hallertau region is set to unveil a unique and innovative project, funded by the European LEADER funding program and contributions from the participating municipalities. Known as "The Digital Hallertau Experience", this initiative is being carried by Hopfenland Hallertau Tourism e.V.
The project, which had its official launch on July 24 at the German Hops Museum in Wolnzach, aims to make the culture, history, and hop expertise of the region accessible through digital audio tours. Users will be able to explore the region's rich tapestry via an app, with four tours planned for the project.
Two city tours are planned for Wolnzach and Mainburg, while two cycling tours will take visitors through several communities in the region. One cycling tour runs from Rudelzhausen via Au i. d. Hallertau and Nandlstadt to Freising, another from Furth via Hohenthann, Pfeffenhausen, Weihmichl, Obersüßbach, and Bruckberg to Rottenburg a.d. Laaber.
Carolin Meinhold is the project leader for "The Digital Hallertau Experience". The content for the audio tours will be developed in the coming months, with the first results expected in summer 2026.
Local action group representatives were also present at the kick-off event, which was attended by project partners from the four districts of Pfaffenhofen, Freising, Kelheim, and Landshut. A photo of the project participants from the four districts and representatives of the participating local action groups at the official project launch is available.
While search results do not provide direct information about the project's availability date, it is expected that the digital audio tours will be available in several communities starting next year. This new initiative is an example of successful intermunicipal cooperation and a promising step towards digital tourism in the Hallertau region.
For more information, we recommend checking official Hallertau tourism websites or local cultural institutions' announcements, as they are typically the primary sources for regional digital tourism projects.
