IndiGo Resumes Direct Flights to China, Boosting Connectivity
IndiGo, India's leading airline, has announced its pride in resuming direct connectivity to China, with plans to introduce more direct flights. This move follows discussions between Indian and Chinese civil aviation authorities and is set to benefit over half a million passengers who flew between the two countries in fiscal 2025.
IndiGo will kickstart its passenger flights between India and China from October 26, 2025. The airline will launch daily flights from Delhi and Kolkata to Guangzhou using its Airbus A320Neo aircraft. Meanwhile, Air India and other Chinese airlines are also preparing to restore direct connectivity between the two countries. Direct air services connecting designated points in India and China can resume by late October 2025, subject to commercial decisions and operational criteria. The schedule for the Delhi-Guangzhou flight by IndiGo is yet to be announced. Until now, passengers between India and China have been transiting via Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and other cities in the absence of non-stop flights. China Eastern is likely to be the first Chinese carrier to restart flights with a daily service between Shanghai and Delhi.
IndiGo's resumption of direct flights to China is expected to boost connectivity and convenience for passengers traveling between the two countries. The move follows a revision in the air service agreement and is set to increase with more planned direct flights.
