Innovative Glamour Unveiled: Rome's Latest Elite Accommodation, the Romeo Roma Hotel, Embraces a Futuristic Elegance
In the heart of Rome, a new luxury hotel is set to make its debut. The Romeo Roma, owned by Neapolitan businessman Alfredo Romeo, will open its doors in 2025, after an initial planned opening in 2016. Designed by the late Zaha Hadid Architects, the hotel promises a unique blend of art, history, and contemporary design.
Located in the 16th-century Palazzo Capponi, near Piazza del Popolo, the Romeo Roma is a short walk from many iconic Rome sites. Guests can easily visit the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Vatican.
The hotel boasts 74 rooms and suites, each featuring wavy walls, custom-made beds, and huge stand-alone TV screens made of Makassar ebony. Interiors also showcase furniture from B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, and custom pieces by Romeo Design. Part of the courtyard is peppered with contemporary artworks and tastefully tailored horticulture, while five suites will be enveloped in restored frescoes. The Penthouse Suite will offer an expansive terrace with views of Rome's rooftops.
Art enthusiasts will appreciate the hotel's careful curation of Italian and 20th-Century art, with pieces by Francesco Clemente and others adorning the walls. The hotel also preserves an ancient Roman workshop and a section of historic wall beneath a glass floor in the pool area.
Gastronomically, the Romeo Roma will feature Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse's second restaurant in Italy. Guests can enjoy curated tasting menus, including dishes such as blue Mediterranean lobster with red berries and rhubarb, and a signature chocolate and coffee dessert from Alain Ducasse Manufacture paired with buckwheat ice cream. The hotel also offers Il Cortile for Italian classics, Il Bar, and La Terrazza, an open-air bar with panoramic city views in collaboration with champagne house Krug.
For relaxation, the Romeo Roma spa, operated by Sisley Paris, offers a steam room crafted from Tadelakt, a traditional Moroccan plastering technique, and a glass-walled sauna overlooking the hotel's inner courtyard. The spa's relaxation suite is encased in a Sicilian Salgemma salt brick wall.
Additional amenities include a swimming pool that straddles indoor and outdoor spaces, a rooftop terrace, 24-hour front desk, and laundry services. Room rates start at approximately $2,950 per night, and hotel access is exclusive to guests, except those visiting the restaurants and spa.
With the combined impact of Ducasse and Hadid, the Romeo Roma is expected to make a significant impact on the Roman fine dining scene. This luxury hotel is sure to be a must-visit destination for art, food, and history enthusiasts alike.
