International Gathering at Hanseatic Day in Visby, Sweden
Prepare for a journey back in time as the historic city of Neuss, Germany, gears up to host the Hansefest on the 20th and 21st of September 2025. This cultural festival is a tribute to the Hanseatic League, a medieval commercial and defensive confederation that once thrived in Northwestern and Central Europe.
Neuss, a member city of the Hanseatic League, will showcase its rich history and the legacy of the Hanseatic League during the two-day event. Cities such as Wesel, Kalkar/Grieth, Emmerich, Salzwedel, and Brilon will also be present, creating an atmosphere of Hanseatic grandeur in the city centre.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities designed to educate and entertain. Free guided tours will be available for those interested in learning more about the Hanseatic League and Neuss's history. The festival will also feature colorful market stalls offering a wide array of goods, food and drink stands, and an entertainment program for children, including stage performances and interactive activities.
The Hansefest is more than just a historical celebration; it's a chance for history enthusiasts, families, and the local community to come together and celebrate this regional heritage. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
In partnership with Emmerich am Rhein, Kalkar, and Wesel, the city of Neuss is set to make this year's Hansefest an unforgettable experience. The event is organised by Neuss Marketing, led by CEO Jürgen Sturm.
