Jonah Bevin Alleges Abandonment by Adoptive Parents, Matt and Glenna Bevin
An 18-year-old, Jonah Bevin, alleges he was abandoned by his adoptive parents, Matt and Glenna Bevin, in a Jamaican youth facility last year. The case, involving abuse and neglect allegations, is ongoing in Kentucky's Family Court. Matt Bevin, the former governor, is representing himself.
Jonah's lawyer, Dawn J. Post, described his experience of being questioned by Matt Bevin as 'emotionally retraumatizing'. The hearing was continued until Tuesday by Judge Angela Johnson. Jonah has also filed a police report, alleging abandonment, a Class D felony in Kentucky. The case will resume on April 1, with both sides planning to present witnesses.
In 2019, a high-profile custody battle between Matt and Glenna Bevin made headlines. The couple fought for custody of their four biological children. Brandon McCormick, a Louisville-based family lawyer, represented the Bevin children at the time. However, this case received less media attention than the subsequent custody dispute involving the Bevins' adopted children.
Jonah Bevin's protective order extension hearing is scheduled for April 1. Both parties plan to present witnesses. The case involves serious allegations and has a complex history, with the Bevins previously involved in a high-profile custody battle for their biological children.
