Lehigh University Celebrates Diversity at Annual International Bazaar
Lehigh University celebrated diversity and international culture on April 27, 2023, with its annual International Bazaar. Hosted by the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and the student-led International Bazaar Board, the event welcomed the entire Lehigh community.
The International Bazaar showcased a variety of performances and activities. The Lehigh Lion Dance Club kicked off the festivities, marking their first appearance at the event. Attendees enjoyed numerous dance groups, interactive booths, and a fashion show. Food played a central role, with local vendors offering international cuisine. Guests could sample global dishes using provided tickets, encouraging them to try new foods. Katrina Bui, an industrial and systems engineering major, praised the event's inclusivity. Kuda Mundove, a Zimbabwean graduate scholar, highlighted the power of food in sharing culture and bringing people together.
The International Bazaar, the largest international celebration on Lehigh's campus, involved over 1,000 international students from 91 countries and 40 student cultural organizations. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) supports these students and scholars, providing immigration guidance and ensuring university compliance. The event fostered cultural exchange and unity within the Lehigh community.
