In a recent study by the Otello mobile application and YooMoney services, Russians have shown a strong preference for domestic and nearby destinations for their summer short trips. The research highlights a trend towards quick getaways, with many favouring destinations that are easily accessible by car or short flights.

Popular choices include the warm beaches and resort atmosphere of Sochi and the Black Sea coast, the scenic landscapes and cultural sites of Crimea, the mountainous and natural beauty of the Caucasus region, the unique history and Baltic Sea coast of Kaliningrad, and the cultural cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow.

The study also revealed an increase in domestic tourism due to restricted international travel, with Russians opting for destinations offering a blend of relaxation and outdoor activities, suitable for short trips of a few days.

Interestingly, the study found that every fourth tourist (24%) chooses apartments for their short trips, followed by four-star hotels (14%) and guesthouses (12%). Russians rarely book sanatoriums, boarding houses, or boutique hotels for their short trips, with each category accounting for just 1%.

Families with children make up the majority (48%) of tourists going on short trips this summer. The study also noted that almost half (47%) of the surveyed Russians plan to go on multiple short trips this summer.

The most popular destinations for short trips, according to the study, are the Golden Ring, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Altai, and the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory. The study also did not reveal any new information about the number of tourists choosing apartments, hotels, or staying with friends/relatives for their short trips.

In a separate development, the Om1 Omsk portal has launched a series of articles about small towns in the Omsk region for mini-trips, providing insights into what to see and do in these lesser-known destinations. However, the article on Om1 Omsk did not provide new information about the number of tourists booking sanatoriums, boarding houses, or boutique hotels for their short trips, nor did it provide any information about the danger of magnetic storms for Omsk residents.

Overall, the study underscores a shift towards domestic and accessible destinations for Russians this summer, with a clear preference for short trips that offer a mix of relaxation and outdoor activities.
