Hey there,

Summer days have been a bit quiet on the Stranger Dimensions front, if you've taken note. The primary reason? Well, sunshine and warm weather aside, I've been delving deep into ancestry investigations. That's right, I've been sifting through dusty documents, orer photographs, and even venturing into a few graveyards, all in the name of unearthing facts about my long-lost relatives.

You might call it a strange hobby, but there's a special group of people who share my fascination – the taphophiles. These are individuals who can't get enough of graveyards, a passion that translates to cemetery exploration, epitaph admiration, and historical discovery. In essence, this obsession with tombstones is more than just an excessive interest; it's a genuine love and appreciation.

Strange as it may seem, I'd wager that I'm not quite a full-blown taphophile. I was merely seeking specific descendants after all. Still, there's something mesmerizing about tracing footsteps on worn-out gravestones and uncovering stories hidden beneath layers of time.

"Tombstone tourists," as they're called, are captivated by the unique charm of cemeteries, the history they hold, and the mysteries they represent. They indulge in epitaph deciphering, gravestone sketching, photography, art, and delving into the tales of famous departed souls. For cemetery enthusiasts, these burial grounds are more than just final resting places; they're history museums, outdoor art galleries, and mysterious puzzle boxes rolled into one.

On one of my journeys, I chanced upon a handful of forgotten tombstones nestled within the nooks and crannies of an old cemetery. I managed to snap a few graining pictures with my cell phone, which admittedly don't do justice to the intricate designs etched into the stones.

If you're keen on exploring some cemeteries of your own but don't fancy leaving the comfort of your home, I recommend checking out Find A Grave. This online database houses grave information, including pictures of tombstones for a host of individuals. It may not have every tombstone recorded, but it's a goldmine for those eager to began their own virtual tombstone tour.

Ever wandered through a graveyard, filled with the echoes of the past? It's a hauntingly beautiful experience, and I encourage you to seek it out if the opportunity arises.

During my explorations, I found myself delving into both the physically and virtually unexplored domains, appreciating the compelling tales of the past within the realms of home-and-garden (Find A Grave) and the fashion-and-beauty of intricate designs etched into ancient tombstones. In the course of my lifestyle, I've discovered that travel can offer experiences just as captivating as venturing through a graveyard filled with history.
