Reflection on the Year 2015 and Travel Plans for 2016
In 2015, our intrepid travel blogger embarked on a journey of self-discovery and exploration, documenting their adventures, experiences, and travel tips for all to enjoy.
The year began on a challenging note, with a sudden and unexpected end to a long-term relationship. However, our blogger found solace in the support of their followers and the allure of new horizons.
In February 2015, they experienced their first press trip, a weekend in Athens hosted by Discover Greece. The city's vibrant street art in the Psirri district, particularly the dazzling Acropolis illuminated against the night sky from a hotel rooftop jacuzzi, left a lasting impression.
A few months later, in April-May, they attended the TBEX (Travel Bloggers Exchange) in Catalunya, Spain, an event that seemed to propel their blog to new heights. The blogger spent three weeks in Catalunya, falling in love with the region's culture and cementing their love for all things Catalan.
June saw them working with Discover Greece again, this time on the second annual Blogtrotters Greece event in Thessaloniki. They spent two days exploring the city and eating its delicious cuisine.
In July, they visited the region of Istria in Croatia with their best friend Samantha, and fell in love with Edinburgh, Scotland during a visit later in the month.
September brought a bicycle tour in Catalunya, Spain with the tourist board, and in October, they spent an evening in the Bains des Paquis on Lake Geneva, a public bathhouse with hammams and saunas.
The year ended on a high note with the arrival of their oldest sister's first child, a baby girl, in December. However, the blogger decided to take some time off to regroup and heal, heading home to England to stay with family.
Throughout 2015, the blogger's income grew significantly, primarily from advertising on the blog and freelance writing. They made the decision to continue blogging full-time rather than return to a office job during their housesitting in The Netherlands in January.
Now, as they prepare for a solo trip in the near future as part of their "Year of Me", the author expresses their gratitude to their followers for their support so far and encourages everyone to follow them on social media and sign up for their newsletter for updates. They are excited and scared about the upcoming trip and the future, but ready to face it head-on. Stay tuned for more adventures and updates in 2016 and beyond!
