Serene Sojourn to Adjacent Chiba Prefecture for a Peaceful Escape

Written by Lexi, a friendly travel blogger who sometimes gets a tad sarcastic

Have you ever felt the need to escape Tokyo's bustling streets and concrete jungle? Well, that's exactly what Trevor, an American expat living in Japan for three years, did. He ventured to Chiba prefecture, the tranquil neighbor of Tokyo, for a much-needed nature break. Here's his weekend adventure!

Day 1

Sayonara Tokyo, Hello Chiba!

Trevor's journey to Chiba started bright and early on a Saturday around 8 AM. Departing from Shinjuku Station, he hopped on an express train bound for the hiking trails in Yorokeikoku. The scenic train ride was a refreshing change from Tokyo's skyscrapers and neon lights. Along the way, Trevor stopped at a quaint station for a cheap and delicious breakfast of rice balls, or onigiri.

Arriving at Yorokeikoku Station, Trevor was greeted by stunning views of lush greenery, red bridges, and a mysterious, hauntingly beautiful tunnel. However, his eagerness to explore got the best of him, and he missed his train. Not to worry, he found solace in Maple, a wonderful restaurant run by a hospitable lady named Yumiko who served an exquisite ginger pork set.

After some delicious food and friendly conversation, Trevor continued his journey to Onjuku Station, a charming beach town he'd been eager to visit. The Sayan Terrace and Resort, his accommodations for the night, greeted him with open arms. Relaxing in the hotel onsen and soaking in the ocean view, Trevor finally called it a night.

Day 2

Sun, Surf, and Scenes

Awakened by the soothing sounds of the ocean, Trevor threw open his curtains to find himself oceanside, surrounded by breathtaking beauty. After a hearty hotel breakfast, Trevor explored the popular Onjuku display, snapping some instagrammable pics without the usual crowds.

Continuing his journey, Trevor ventured to Choshi, famed for its delicious seafood. The station greeted him with beautiful pictures and a piano anyone could play. Satisfied with a scrumptious sushi lunch, Trevor hopped on a train to Inuboh Station, home of a famous lighthouse he couldn't miss.

Spending the afternoon soaking up the sun, savoring local flavors, and strolling through charming villages, Trevor returned to Tokyo with a newfound love for Chiba.

Chiba offers a perfect balance of city life and nature, making it the perfect destination for those seeking a break from Tokyo's crowds. Don't let Chiba be overshadowed by its neighbor. This coastal gem is filled with hidden treasures, refreshing air, and exquisite seafood.
