Southern UK roadshow commemorates an anniversary
"Let's Chat About the UK's Tour of Southern Thailand!"
Gear up, folks! The British Embassy is embarking on the "170th Outreach Roadshow and British Fair" in southern Thailand to celebrate the incredible 170 years of friendship between the UK and Thailand.
Led by Ambassador Mark Gooding, along with some brilliant agriculture and commercial counsellors, the roadshow is all about showcasing the collaborations between our two nations under the hot topic of "Our Shared World." This catchy title encompasses cool stuff like environment, wildlife, marine, nature, climate, agriculture, and sustainable tourism.
The fun started in Phuket and moved on to the beautiful Krabi. You'll be amazed to know, the embassy officials paid a visit to the Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation, where they witnessed the UK-supported veterinary care. If that isn't enough, they went ahead and planted some trees in a ceremony to remind us all about our responsibility towards the environment.
Next stop, Surat Thani! It's gonna be an exciting day, with discussions on how the UK's import protocols can boost the quality of our exports, as well as a trip to a shrimp farm to check out some UK-Thai aquaculture projects.
The roadshow comes to a close in Surat Thani with the British Fair 2025 at Big C Surat Thani from 4pm to 8pm.
Now, let's look forward to the future. The next part of the roadshow is heading to the Eastern Economic Corridor in July, with the theme "Our Shared Wealth and Prosperity."
As Ambassador Gooding said, "This roadshow is a massive celebration of our strong ties with Thailand in education, innovation, and sustainability. We're incredibly proud to showcase the depth and breadth of our partnership in this 170th year."
Psst! Did you know? The region that the roadshow is heading to - the Eastern Economic Corridor - is a major economic development zone, focusing on innovation and investment.
