Tesla Expands Supercharger Network with New Business Initiative

Tesla has announced a new initiative, Supercharger for Business, which marks a significant shift in strategy for the company. This programme allows business owners to purchase and install Superchargers on their properties, potentially accelerating electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

Under this programme, businesses can acquire the latest V4 Supercharger stalls, each powered by V4 cabinets that can support up to eight stalls. Tesla promises the same uptime, service, and driver support as its own network, guaranteeing 97% uptime - the highest in the industry.

The Superchargers offer features like live availability, trip planning, preconditioning for faster charging, and ongoing over-the-air software updates. They are compatible with all electric vehicles, making them a convenient option for EV drivers.

Tesla provides a full-service package for Supercharger for Business, including network operations, preventative maintenance, and driver support. The company also offers design guidance for the installation of Superchargers.

Max de Zegher, Tesla Charging Director, expressed concern about DC fast chargers with poor software and service, referring to stranded assets. To address this, Tesla is growing its Supercharger network with help from outside partners, as a part of its mission outlined in Master Plan Part 4.
