Tomsk Oblast Sees Mixed Price Trends in August 2025
Tomskstat, the official statistics provider for Tomsk Oblast, released its price development report for August 2025. The consumer price index (CPI) stood at 99.6% compared to July, indicating a slight decrease in prices overall.
Food prices in the region saw a 1% decrease on average. Among food items, beets experienced the most significant price drop, with a decrease of 37.3%. Potatoes and carrots also witnessed notable decreases in price. However, not all food items saw a decline. Fresh cucumbers saw a substantial 26.9% price increase, the highest among food items. Dairy products and frozen fish also became more expensive.
In the non-food category, prices increased by an average of 0.8%. Services for the maintenance and repair of residential buildings saw a 4.3% increase. Trips to the UAE and Egypt, along with hostel accommodation, also became more expensive.
In summary, while food prices in Tomsk Oblast decreased by 1% in August 2025, with beets seeing the most significant drop, non-food items increased by an average of 0.8%. The overall consumer price index remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease to 99.6% compared to July.
