Updated Power Bank Policies Across Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia, and Flydubai Airlines

In the skies above the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are some changes to the rules regarding power banks and batteries on flights. Here's a breakdown of the latest policies for Emirates, Etihad, FlyDubai, and Air Arabia.

Starting October 1, 2025, Emirates will allow passengers to carry only one power bank under 100 watt-hours (Wh) onboard. Power banks cannot be used to charge devices during the flight, nor can they be charged via aircraft power outlets. They must be carried in the cabin (not in checked luggage) and stored within reach—in the seat pocket or under the seat in front, not in overhead bins. This policy aims to reduce fire and safety risks from lithium-ion battery overheating.

Passengers traveling with FlyDubai and Air Arabia are allowed to carry a maximum of 10 loose or spare batteries, including power banks. However, unlike Emirates, both FlyDubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to carry power banks on their flights, but usage is strictly prohibited. For FlyDubai, power banks must be stored properly to prevent damage and short-circuiting, and only batteries with less than 160Wh are allowed. Confirmations from FlyDubai should be sought for exact details.

Etihad Airways allows passengers to carry power banks in cabin baggage but they must be individually wrapped or protected inside the bag. Power banks with capacities under 100 Wh are permitted; those between 100 Wh and 160 Wh may require airline authorization. Usage or charging of power banks during flights is strictly prohibited.

To summarise, all UAE airlines restrict power banks to carry-on bags only, usually allow only one under 100 Wh, prohibit charging and usage during flights, and ban them in checked baggage. For FlyDubai and Air Arabia, it's best to confirm directly with the airline for the latest specific rules.

| Airline | Max Power Bank Capacity | Number Allowed | In-Flight Use/Charging | Storage Location | Checked Luggage Allowed | |--------------|------------------------|----------------|-----------------------|----------------------------|-------------------------| | Emirates | <100 Wh | 1 | Prohibited | Seat pocket or under seat | Not allowed | | Etihad | <100 Wh (authorization for 100-160 Wh) | Usually 1 or as authorized | Prohibited | Wrapped/protected in carry-on bag | Not allowed | | FlyDubai | <160 Wh (standard rule) | Generally 1 | Prohibited | Carry-on luggage | Not allowed | | Air Arabia | <100 Wh (likely similar) | Generally 1 | Prohibited | Carry-on luggage | Not allowed |

Whether you're jetting off with Emirates, Etihad, FlyDubai, or Air Arabia, remember to keep your power banks safe and secure, and enjoy your flight!
